The Fantiscritti quarries (m450) can be reached by following the Carrione stream to the Vara bridges. Fantiscritti owes its name to the discovery of an artifact from the Roman era, now preserved in the Carrara Academy, consisting of small bas-relief figures carved on the steep wall of a spur of rock. The marble extracted from this basin is the light white type of the Battaglino and the Grand Canal, the statuary one of Bettogli and the ordinary white of the Fantiscritti.
